Getting started
How long does it take to get my Roku channel live?

Most labels have their channel configured and content uploaded within a week of signing up. Channel setup takes about an hour. Once published, Roku typically takes 24–48 hours to propagate to all devices.

What file formats does StreamSpindle support?

Audio: MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A (320kbps recommended)

Video: MP4, MOV up to 4GB (1080p recommended)

Artwork: JPG only — Roku does not support PNG. Episode thumbnails must be exactly 500×281px.

Can I import my catalog automatically?

Yes — Label plan subscribers can connect a DDEX ERN 3.8.2 feed from DistroKid, TuneCore, CD Baby, or any DDEX-compatible distributor. You can also drag and drop an album folder using Batch Import in the Upload tab, which parses filenames and artwork automatically.

What territories does StreamSpindle support?

StreamSpindle currently supports distribution on Roku in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Mexico. You select territories during onboarding and can adjust per-track and per-artist. Only select territories where you hold valid distribution rights.

Billing & plans
How does the 90-day free trial work?

Your trial begins on signup day. You have full access to your plan for 90 days with no charge. Cancel any time before day 90 and you will not be billed. After day 90, billing begins automatically.

What is the difference between Starter and Label plans?

Starter ($49/mo) — up to 50 artists, 5 custom categories, unlimited playlists, SVOD and AVOD monetization, monthly revenue reports.

Label ($89/mo) — everything in Starter plus unlimited artists, 20 custom categories, DDEX auto-ingestion, per-track royalty breakdown, and royalty reporting with PDF export.

How do payouts work?

Payouts are processed monthly, 30–45 days after the calendar month ends — aligned with Roku's payment schedule. Submit a payout request from the Billing tab in your dashboard. Royalties are calculated from SVOD and AVOD revenue minus StreamSpindle's platform fee, with per-artist splits applied.

Can I apply a promo code?

Yes — enter your promo code during Stripe checkout after signup. If you need help applying a code after signup, email [email protected].

Roku & technical
Why is my track not playing on Roku?

The most common cause is a missing or incorrectly sized episode thumbnail. Roku requires a 500×281px JPG for every track — content without one will not play. Check your Catalog tab and confirm every live track has a thumbnail. PNG files will not work. Other causes: track set to Draft, channel not published, or incorrect content type.

How do viewers find and subscribe to my channel?

Your channel has a unique access code. Viewers add it at my.roku.com/account/add, then it appears in their channel list. Viewers subscribe through Roku Pay at $9.99/month, or watch free with ads if AVOD is enabled.

What is DDEX and do I need it?

DDEX is an industry standard for delivering music metadata between distributors and platforms. If your distributor supports DDEX, you can connect a feed and StreamSpindle will automatically import new releases including metadata, territories, and rights. DDEX is a Label plan feature — Starter plan labels upload content manually.
